Our return flight went from Palermo, Milan, NewYork to home. In the Milan Airport we met a University student going to San Diego to study English. Her name is Chiara and we were able to make friends with her and show her some American hospitality here at home..

Alcamo and Terrasini

Here I am with my feet wet again. Once again we had hoped to be swimming, but walked up to LARGE jellyfish on the shore. All of these beach pictures are the Golfo di Castellammare. Bello !!
This is the port of the little town of Terrasini where we stayed to be closer to the Aeroporto to catch the plane home.
This is the view from our Hotel at the Alcamo Marina, in the distance you can see the little beach town of Castellammare. We had planned on staying there, but no transportation services.
Just a road sign announcing the autostrada. My ancestors were from Palermo, but a few years ago found out that great-grandfather Placido lived in Alcamo just before coming to America in 1901.
This picture makes my mouth water !! It was a fancy coffee-house. Beautiful decorations, very upscale, and decorated desserts of every kind. Real artistic pastries and of course gelato.
This is mostly what Alcamo is, farming, huge mountains, and the modern autostrada going to Palermo which is an hour away. We took this picture while out walking from the hotel to the beach.
Loved the door-way to the hotel on the 2nd floor. Had to stoop to get in. We thought we had it made, real nice host, comfortable beds and working bathroom. Surprise, the main street was out our window and we were awake all night from the Sat. night party time.
Here is the town of Terrasini, small and cozy. Just one business street, the others were close-living houses and apts.
Just another picture from the bus window.We are on our way from Siracusa back to Palermo. Our visits to the beach areas west of Palermo ended our Sicilian Viaggio. We saw so much, met alot of great people and ate wonderful food and dolce (desserts.)
